Open..Sesame ....Sesame Bread

Posted on 03:24 by Unknown
Almost like Aladdin's cave full of goodies....this one is...warm and salty and ALMOST FAT FREE....the only bit of fat is in the oil for lining the tin......yay...
well I'm not counting the sesame seeds ...but thats healthy fat so that is allowed ...anyways there are no free lunches....though this bread tastes really nice with a warm hearty soup on a cold rainy wet day...exactly what the doctor ordered here...we are facing this weather in august here in Ranchi ...
so this was warranted....
go ahead and try this.

This recipe is also curtesy my favourite "Fabulous Cakes and Bakes"

SESAME BREAD.....
for this
 you need.....

200 gms plain flour
200 gms whole wheat flour
250 mils Luke warm water
2 tsp dried yeast
2 tsp salt
3-4 tsp toasted sesame seeds
milk to glaze
1 tsp sesame seeds to sprinkle...

For this recipe you do not need to preheat the oven...well not yet...so when you are feeling really lazy  attempt this bread ...the result will give you such a strong sense of accomplishment.....you'll want to start growing your own wheat....
crazy is as crazy gets...
For those of you who have never baked bread...this is what dried yeast looks like..

pretty little balls...its always about  the balls....
Combine the yeast in a bowl with about 75 mils of the water and leave to dissolve.Mix the flours and the salt in a bowl and make a well in the centre...

Into this pour the dissolved yeast and knead with the required amount of water.
should be a soft pliable dough.Leave it to prove ....err double because of the action of the yeast...for at least an hour. Now that it is double....wear an imaginary pair of boxing gloves and box the air out adding the toasted sesame seeds.Great for anger management.Next time you have a lovers tiff ...bake bread...
See I'm a counsellor and a bloody good cook...
Grease a cake tin with a little oil and with wet hands form small balls...again the balls...they may be of any size or shape you prefer....
and place them in the tin like so...

Now to let them rest..you may or may not chill just make sure the balls..er dough stays away from any chill factor...simply place the tin in a warm drought free area...till they all touch each other....the balls of course...

Now set your oven at 220C and wait for it to tell you when...when to put the tin in of course.Brush the dough lightly with milk and sprinkle with more sesame seeds...if you do desire more..I did not....and shove the tin into the oven...you may cross your fingers but they will not disappoint you.

So after about 35 Min's take the tin out and knock on....... the backside of  the tin.....you should actually  be knocking on heavens door...Should sound hollow...
Take the tin out and run a knife along the edges and INVERT....

PURRFERCT!!

tear the loaf apart...

Like so ...and enjoy...
A word of caution...don't wait for the tin to cool or the bread gives a mean fight...to come out of its cave...
Say OPEN SESAME...and pop it into your mouth...remember it doesn't have to be sweet always....

try it out and do post your comments...

So what are you baking today????
